Deepika Padukone recently opened up about a question she’s constantly asked: Mumbai or Bengaluru? The actress, who has spent significant chapters of her life in both cities, shared a heartfelt behind-the-scenes video reflecting on what each place means to her.
The video captures her in a candid mood while getting ready for an event and reminiscing about her past, her present, and how these two cities have equally defined her journey.
The video begins with someone off-camera asking if she misses Corner House, a popular dessert joint in Bengaluru. With a smile, Deepika responds, “I do miss it but, in a way, I’m actually glad that there isn’t one in Bombay. Because that would require a different level of willpower.” The humorous yet honest take set the tone for a deeper reflection on the cities she holds dear.

When asked to choose between Mumbai and Bengaluru, Deepika explained how both cities are integral to her identity. “Whenever I come back to Bengaluru, it feels like home. This is where I’ve lived a large part of my life. This is where I’ve grown up, my friends, my school, my college—so all of those formative years and those experiences have all been here.” She then added, after a brief pause, “Mumbai again because professionally, that’s where my life began, and that’s where home is now. The energy in Mumbai is very, very different. So it’s very difficult to choose one over the other.”
Summing up her thoughts, Deepika concluded, “Both cities have really influenced my 39 years.” Her voice carried a sense of gratitude and nostalgia, resonating with anyone who’s ever had two places feel like home.
The video montage also included rare glimpses from her childhood, school and college days in Bengaluru, and early modelling years in Mumbai. Fans quickly took to the comments section, praising Deepika for her grounded nature and celebrating her journey.
In the caption, Deepika wrote, “A question I get asked ever so often… Bengaluru or Mumbai?”—leaving the final answer open-ended but emotionally rich.
Apart from her nostalgic reflections, Deepika continues to stay in the spotlight for both her personal and professional milestones. She and her husband Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, a daughter named Dua, last year. The couple has since been enjoying the joys of parenthood while continuing their professional commitments.
Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again and has been making notable appearances on global stages. From representing India at the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week to attending the Forbes 30/50 Global Summit in Abu Dhabi, the actress remains a powerful global icon.
Her candid video serves as a warm reminder that no matter how far one goes, the roots always matter—and sometimes, home isn’t a place, but two cities.
