HIS country might have lost its world crown without much fight but that did not stop former England football captain David Beckham from appearing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (15) to watch the first semi-final of the ICC Men’s cricket World Cup 2023 between India and New Zealand.
The 48-year-old, who was seen in the company of former India captain Sachin Tendulkar and Bollywood actors such as Kiara Advani in the stands, met ace India cricketer Virat Kohli and others and also around when the national anthem of India was played ahead of the match.

Beckham was in India as UNICEF’s goodwill ambassador and according to sources, he was hosted by Indian actor Sonam Kapoor and her husband Anand Ahuja in India’s financial capital.
“David Beckham is in India for his UNICEF commitment as a Global Ambassador and he will be meeting Sonam and Anand during his trip to Mumbai. The power couple will be hosting David when he is in Mumbai and have invited the crème de la crème icons of the city for a dinner at their residence,” The Indian Express reported citing as source.
India finished with a mammoth total of 397 for four wickets in 50 overs against the Black Caps with Kohli and Shreyas Iyer hitting hundreds.
Defending champions England failed to make the semi-finals of the ongoing edition and finished seventh with just three wins out of nine matches.
