The nine-year-old Asian-origin girl who was shot in the head during a drive-by shooting in east London seven weeks ago may never ‘speak or move properly’ again, her parents have said.

While she was at the restaurant in Dalston with her family on May 29, a lone biker fired shots at the building.

Three men who were sitting outside the restaurant were also injured. They were, however, discharged a few days later.

The Metropolitan Police have not yet tracked the biker and released images captured by the nearby CCTV cameras.

In a statement, the family said her condition is critical but stable. They were, however, not sure whether she would be able to speak or move properly again.

The family said she was a smart and fun-loving girl and they are praying for her full recovery.

The police have released three images of the biker in the Dalston area before and after the incident and appealed to the public to share any information about the criminal.

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said detectives believe the shooting could be linked to Turkish gangsters, and the bike used for the crime was from Peckham and Crystal Palace areas.

He said the person was dangerous and “must be removed from our streets.”

The girl’s family hails from Kerala in India.
