IN A recent podcast interview, Courteney Cox shared that Jennifer Aniston held onto several wardrobe pieces from the iconic show “Friends”, including outfits belonging to Cox’s character, Monica Geller.
Reflecting on her co-star’s habit of preserving costumes, Cox noted, “She (Aniston) took a lot of Monica’s dresses, and she’ll say, ‘Oh yeah, I used to wear this on Friends. And I mean, it looks great on her. She has a great figure and she’s adorable.”
Cox made these remarks during an appearance on Bella Freud’s Fashion Neurosis podcast.
Aniston, 55, and Cox, 60, are longtime friends who portrayed roommates Rachel Greene and Monica Geller on NBC’s Friends, a series celebrated for its comedic timing and cultural impact on style.
Debra McGuire served as the costume designer for the show, which ran for 10 seasons from 1994 to 2004.
Cox shared how Aniston’s tendency to keep clothing even extended to her character Monica’s wardrobe. “It’s really funny that (Aniston) did take some of Monica’s clothes,” Cox said, noting how the floral, prairie-style dresses looked particularly unusual.
The actor also recalled a time when she attempted to replicate Aniston’s style. Spotting her co-star in a trendy outfit—”a really cool jacket with a tank top and a pair of jeans”—Cox decided to buy the same jacket.
However, she soon realized the look was no longer in vogue. “By the time I got it, it wasn’t as cool anymore,” Cox admitted, adding, “Oh my God, this jacket was thousands of dollars… It was too late.”
Aniston and Cox starred alongside Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer in the show, which continues to captivate audiences and remains a reference point for both comedy and fashion.
