CANADIAN singer Bryan Adams launched his “So Happy It Hurts Tour 2024” in India with a performance in Kolkata on Sunday.

This marked the Grammy-winning artiste’s first live concert in the “City of Joy.” The event took place at the Aquatica water park complex, where Adams performed iconic tracks such as ‘Summer of ’69’, ‘Please Forgive Me’, and ‘Everything I Do (I Do It for You)’ to an enthusiastic crowd.

Speaking ahead of the event, Adams expressed his excitement, stating, “I feel so excited to perform in your city for the first time. It is named ‘So Happy It Hurts Tour, and obviously, I am happy.”

Reflecting on his connection with the audience, he added during the concert, “Music is a way to communicate various emotions.”

The Kolkata concert was part of a larger tour, which will also include performances in Shillong, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gurugram, and Bengaluru. This is Adams’ sixth visit to India, following tours in 1993-94, 2001, 2006, 2011, and 2018.

Event security was robust, with multi-layered arrangements at the venue. Organisers credited tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi’s event management company for bringing the Kolkata leg of the tour to fruition.

Adams has sold over 100 million records globally and has received accolades including a Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media, along with multiple Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations.
