AMID the Uttar Pradesh government’s thrust on population control, parliamentarians of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ravi Kishan and Rakesh Sinha will introduce private member’s bills on the same during the monsoon session of the parliament starting July 19. While Kishan, who is also a renowned actor in India’s regional Bhojpuri language, will table the proposed legislation in the Lok Sabha, Sinha will do it in the Rajya Sabha of which he is a member.
But the fact that Kishan, who is a member of the Lok Sabha from UP’s Gorakhpur constituency, one which was once represented by current chief minister Yogi Adityanath, will table the bill on population control has sparked an outrage in the country.

Kishan called a hypocrite, also finds support
Kishan has been attacked since he himself has as many as four children – one son and three daughters, which is mentioned in his bio-profile on the Lok Sabha website. Social media was abuzz about Kishan with some saying he ignored three daughters for his son while others accused the ruling BJP of playing another communal card with the plan to control the population. Some even accused Kishan of ruining the Bhojpuri film industry and called him a hypocrite.

However, Kishan also had his share of support as many defended the member of parliament saying even if he had four children, it was wrong to blame him if he was taking a step towards controlling India’s massive population.
