The death case of Indian actor-turned-politician Sonali Phogat has seen a fresh development after the police of the state of Goa where she died earlier this week registered a murder case. According to a report by India Today, a first-information report was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code after Sonali’s family cried foul over her death which reportedly happened due to heart attack.

Sonali’s autopsy was carried out on Thursday (25) with the consent of her family and according to the report, the procedure revealed that she had many “blunt injuries”.

Moninder Phogat, nephew of Sonali whose rise to fame was as a TikTok star who then joined India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, confirmed to India Today that they gave their consent to her autopsy.

“We have given consent to the police because our lawyers and doctors suggested that after 72 hours, the body will degrade further,” he said.

“We have been assured that a panel of doctors will look into the procedure and it will be videographed as well,” he said.

Sonali died in Goa on Tuesday (23) and her sister later alleged a conspiracy saying the former felt uneasy after eating food.

She was reportedly brought dead to the hospital in Goa on Tuesday morning.
