POLICE fined a woman in Bengaluru after a video of her operating a laptop while driving went viral.
In the video, she could be seen balancing her laptop on the steering wheel while navigating the road.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), North Division, Siri Gowri D R shared the video on social media on Wednesday afternoon with the comment, “Work from home, not from the car while driving”.
According to police, the woman was fined ₹1,000 for grossly violating traffic rules.
In response, one X user observed: “If it’s so urgent, pull over, finish the job then drive or communicate your manager to do after sometime, 99% it’s in your hand, how to manage things well, either through your communication or by being efficient , there is no excuse of putting people in danger.”
Another wondered about the work ethics the woman’s company follows: “Her company & managers name should be revealed and an FIR lodged on the company ceo & manager. CEO’s claiming to work 90 hours have made these meaningless meetings & deliverables which is exploited.”
Another user blamed the managers: “I had a manager who used to schedule meetings when people were supposed to be driving. Asking him he used to say they would be in bluetooth and why to waste time when they are commuting to office. It is not always the employers. The managers act in this manner to prove efficiency.”
