OSCAR winner Ben Affleck is directing and starring in “Animals”, a crime thriller that will feature Kerry Washington, Steven Yeun, and Gillian Anderson.
Originally planned for a 2024 production start, the film faced delays and is now scheduled to begin filming in April.
The story follows a mayoral candidate, played by Affleck, whose son is kidnapped. Washington will portray his wife, while Anderson will play a fixer, and Yeun will take on the role of his campaign manager.
The couple, surrounded by political and personal enemies, must take drastic action to save their child.
The screenplay is written by Connor McIntyre with revisions by Billy Ray.
The film is produced by Affleck and Matt Damon under their company Artists Equity, with additional production support from MakeReady and Fifth Season.
Affleck and Damon, known for their partnership on “Good Will Hunting”, are also set to appear together in RIP, a crime thriller expected to premiere on Netflix later this year.
