India and Pakistan will lock horns for the second time in the ongoing Asia Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on September 4 (Sunday) unless Hong Kong, the third side in their group (A) pull a surprise.
India beat Pakistan by 5 wickets in the first game of the group at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (28) and provided both the giants beat minnows Hong Kong, they would take on each other in the Super Four stage as the first and second-place holders from the group. Hong Kong, who beat the host nation to make it to the Asia Cup, will take on India in Dubai on Tuesday (30) and Pakistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday (2).
The Super Four match between the first and second place holders from Group A will also be played in Dubai.
However, one would remember that in the 2018 edition of the Asia Cup which was also held in the UAE, Hong Kong had given India a close fight as they lost by only 26 runs after chasing a target of 286 (in 50 overs). Pakistan were the other team in the group on that occasion too and they lost to India in the group stage by 8 wickets and in the Super Four stage by 9 wickets.
Both those games were played in Dubai.
