After impressing audiences with his villainous role as Danger Lanka in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again (2024), Arjun Kapoor is gearing up for a comedic turn in his upcoming film Mere Husband Ki Biwi. The movie, directed by Mudassar Aziz, presents a hilarious yet chaotic love triangle where Arjun’s character is caught between his past and present.
Set to hit theatres this Friday, the film follows Arjun’s character, who is preparing to marry Rakul Preet Singh. However, his carefully laid plans take an unexpected turn when his ex-wife, played by Bhumi Pednekar, suffers from retrograde amnesia and forgets the past few years, including their divorce. This results in an awkward yet entertaining situation where Arjun finds himself entangled in a “love circle.”
While such a scenario makes for an engaging watch on screen, Arjun Kapoor believes that real-life love triangles are far from entertaining. In a recent conversation with ETimes, the actor opened up about the complexities of being caught in such situations.
“Iss situation mein bechare ke saath jo hua hai and his past comes back because she’s lost her memory. That is not a fun situation in real life to have somebody stuck in,” Arjun explained. He further stated that no one should find themselves in such a dilemma, as playing both sides is neither ethical nor healthy.
“In all honesty, I don’t think anybody should be stuck in this situation or get themselves in this situation where you are trying to play two sides. I don’t think that’s healthy,” he added.
Arjun also shared his thoughts on how people approach relationships based on their status. He acknowledged that while being single allows for certain freedoms, the same does not apply when one is in a committed relationship.
“See, if you’re single, it’s different, and when you’re with someone, it’s different. When you are single, in a colloquial way, you can ‘have fun.’ But when you are in a relationship, you cannot do this,” he explained.
On the personal front, Arjun has been rumored to be single since his breakup with Malaika Arora last year. His Mere Husband Ki Biwi co-star, comedian Harsh Gujral, seemingly confirmed this during the interview.
As Arjun steps into the world of comedy with this rom-com, his insights into love triangles add an interesting layer to his on-screen portrayal. Whether Mere Husband Ki Biwi turns out to be a hit remains to be seen, but Arjun’s take on real-life relationships certainly resonates with many.
