For the past few months, Samay Raina’s YouTube show, India’s Got Latent, has been a hotbed for controversy. The show, which features YouTubers, comedians, and influencers engaging in freewheeling conversations, has often been called out for objectification, misogyny, and excessive profanity. However, its latest episode has sparked unprecedented outrage, with YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia (BeerBiceps), Ashish Chanchlani, Apoorva Mukhija (Rebel Kid), and comedian Jaspreet Singh at the center of the storm.
While much of the backlash is focused on Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija has also found herself in the crossfire. A section of the audience took offense at her statements, accusing her of crossing the line under the guise of humor.
Watch this bit where is #ApoorvaMukhija wrong?
Wtf is wrong with this contestant and the audacity to talk to her like that?

Apoorva, a computer science engineer by degree, transitioned into content creation and quickly rose to prominence. Through her wit and relatability, she amassed over 2.7 million Instagram followers, earning a spot on Forbes India’s Top 100 Digital Stars list. Upon receiving this recognition for the second consecutive year in 2024, she wrote, “Look maa I am on Forbes India again. This is my second year of being on this list and a lot has changed in the past one year, in fact my most difficult year professionally was the last one year.”
Apoorva has had a turbulent relationship with the internet. She previously opened up about being “casually slut shamed by what felt like the entire internet and judged at every step.” She revealed that detractors filled her DMs with hateful messages and wished for her downfall. Despite the negativity, she maintained her resilience, adding, “I still managed to have so much fun at my lowest too.”
Her ability to stand her ground was evident during a recent incident at Delhi Technological University, where she was heckled by a group of students. Refusing to back down, she responded sharply, escalating tensions to the point where security had to intervene. The viral video of the confrontation only added to her growing polarizing reputation.

The controversy surrounding Apoorva’s comments on India’s Got Latent has divided the internet. While her statements were laced with profanity, she was not alone in using such language. However, the disproportionate outrage directed at her has raised questions. Was it because she is a woman in a male-dominated space? Or is the internet simply selective in its outrage?
Apoorva has built a career based on relatability and raw, unfiltered content. From starring in TV ads to partnering with brands like Maybelline, Nike, and Swiggy, she has become a recognizable face in India’s digital landscape. But as she faces yet another controversy, one thing is clear—the internet is quick to judge, and comedy is no place for rebels if the social media crowd deems them rebels without a cause.
