AFTER receiving multiple death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, actor Salman Khan has bought a new bulletproof SUV, according to media reports.

The Bollywood star is importing Nissan Patrol SUV from Dubai, priced ₹20 million (£182,325.44), as it is not available in India, according to Bollywood Society.

He had earlier imported another bulletproof car from the UAE after receiving a death threat from the Bishnoi gang, which also targeted his father Salim Khan.

In September, a biker had entered Khan’s convoy while he was returning home after a film shooting. On the same day, a burqa-clad woman and a man threatened Salim Khan.

In April this year, two men on a motorcycle, allegedly belonging to the Bishnoi gang, had opened fire outside his home in Mumbai’s Bandra suburb.

The Navi Mumbai police on Wednesday arrested a member of Bishnoi gang in connection with an alleged plot to kill Salman Khan.

The accused, Sukha alias Sukhbir Balbir Singh, was apprehended from Panipat in Haryana by a team of Panvel Town police (in Navi Mumbai).

He had allegedly given a contract to Bishnoi gang members to kill Khan. Singh was in touch with his alleged handler Dogar, who is based in Pakistan, an official said.

Singh along with the Bishnoi gang members had planned to use weapons from Pakistan to execute the alleged plot to kill Salman Khan, the official added.

On April 24 this year, the Navi Mumbai police registered a case against 18 identified accused and others of the Bishnoi gang for hatching a conspiracy to kill Salman Khan.

The police had later arrested five Bishnoi gang members in connection with this case.

After the arrests, police in June claimed to have uncovered a plot to target the actor on his way to his farmhouse near Panvel in Navi Mumbai.

During the investigation, it also came to light that Lawrence Bishnoi and Sampat Nehra gangs had deployed around 60 to 70 members to monitor Khan’s movements. (Agencies)
