Sivakarthikeyan’s action drama “Amaran”, which has emerged as one of Tamil cinema’s biggest successes of 2024, is set to make its digital debut on December 5.
The film, based on the life of Major Mukund Varadharajan, grossed ₹3.3 billion globally, marking the highest-grossing film of Sivakarthikeyan’s career. Sai Pallavi played the female lead, adding to the movie’s widespread appeal.
The movie’s digital release, initially expected sooner, was postponed by a week due to its strong performance in theatres. The film’s extended run was also supported by the underperformance of “Kanguva”.
The movie’s theatrical window spanned five weeks, showcasing its significant popularity. The film was directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, known for “Rangoon”, and produced by the legendary Kamal Haasan. Music for the movie was composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
Amaran has been praised for its emotional depth, impactful war sequences, and strong performances, along with its well-received soundtrack.
Netflix, which holds the post-theatrical streaming rights, updated its catalogue to reflect the December 5 release date. Viewers will be able to stream the film in Tamil as well as other language versions from that date.
