NOTED South film producer Allu Aravind has hinted at making a sequel to the 2008 hit “Ghajini,” starring Aamir Khan.

Speaking at the trailer launch event for his latest production, “Thandel,” Aravind recalled how “Ghajini” became the first Bollywood film to cross ₹1 billion at the box office.

“Ghajini,” directed by A R Murugadoss, was a remake of the Tamil film of the same name, featuring Suriya in the lead role.

The Hindi version, co-starring Asin and the late Jiah Khan, earned over ₹ 2 billion and was a major commercial success.

At the same event, Khan, who was the chief guest, praised Naga Chaitanya, his co-star from “Laal Singh Chaddha,” calling him a “great team player” and “ideal co-star.” Chaitanya, in turn, referred to Khan as his “lucky charm.”

Thandel,” directed by Chandoo Mondeti, is a romance drama based on real-life events. Sai Pallavi plays the female lead.

The story follows a fisherman, played by Chaitanya, who accidentally drifts into Pakistani waters and is imprisoned.

The film, produced by Bunny Vasu and presented by Aravind under Geetha Arts, is set for theatrical release on February 7.
