In a recent interview with Hindi Rush, Rahul Bhatt, son of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, made controversial comments comparing his half-sisters, Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt. He stated, “In my opinion, she [Alia] is not even half of what my real sister Pooja is. Not in talent, not in looks, not in terms of being sexy. In front of my sister, she is ‘paani kam chai’ [not as good].”
Rahul further praised Pooja, calling her the most talented and morally grounded among the siblings and credited her with carrying forward their father’s legacy. He reminisced about Pooja’s stardom days, describing her as “the biggest sex symbol of the country” at that time.
These remarks have led to widespread criticism on social media. Many users found the comparison inappropriate, especially the emphasis on physical appearance and ‘sexiness’ when discussing his sisters. One user commented, “Why would you compare the sexual appeal of your own sisters? That’s not okay!”
Rahul also acknowledged Alia’s success, noting her achievements and her role as a mother. He mentioned, “She is a mother now. She is very successful, and one can’t just pick up the phone and say ‘I am coming to meet you’… She is a good mother, and she is taking care of my other stepsister, Shaheen Bhatt, very well, which I respect more.”

Despite the backlash, neither Alia Bhatt nor Pooja Bhatt have publicly responded to Rahul’s comments. The incident has sparked discussions about family dynamics and the appropriateness of public comparisons among siblings, especially in the public eye.
