Ajay Devgn is all set to bring back the fearless IRS officer Amay Patnaik in the highly anticipated sequel, Raid 2. At the official trailer launch event held in Mumbai, Ajay Devgn stole the spotlight not just with the power-packed trailer, but also with his signature wit.
When asked what he would do if he had to conduct income tax raids at the homes of Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan or Salman Khan, his cheeky response left the audience in splits.
“I play an officer in the film. I’m not going to their houses for real. So I don’t really know what I need to manage. If ever there’s a raid at their houses, I’ll be sitting at my house, and vice-versa. So I can’t really manage anything,” Ajay said, drawing loud laughter and applause from the crowd.

The moment quickly went viral, with fans loving his humorous take on a hypothetical situation involving two of Bollywood’s biggest stars. Social media lit up with clips from the event, making Ajay’s quote a trending topic.
Meanwhile, the Raid 2 trailer itself promises a gripping narrative with high-octane drama and patriotic flair. Ajay Devgn reprises his role as the incorruptible IRS officer Amay Patnaik, who is now set to embark on his 75th raid—his biggest and most dangerous mission yet. This time, his opponent is a cunning and politically powerful figure named Dadabhai, played by Riteish Deshmukh in a fierce new avatar.
The trailer sets the stage for an epic battle of wits and power. At one point, Ajay’s character warns the antagonist, “Main poori Mahabharat la raha hu,” indicating a strategic ‘chakravyuh’ that echoes the complexity of ancient warfare.
Vaani Kapoor joins the cast as the romantic lead, bringing warmth and charm to the intense storyline. Fans of the original 2018 Raid will be delighted to see the return of Saurabh Shukla, whose performance had earned widespread acclaim.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, Raid 2 is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Kumar Mangat Pathak, Abhishek Pathak, and Krishan Kumar. The film is slated for a theatrical release on May 1, 2025. The sequel builds on the legacy of its predecessor, which was set in 1981 and focused on an income tax officer’s mission to bring justice to the common man by taking down the powerful corrupt.
With the perfect blend of action, emotion, and political intrigue, Raid 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest Bollywood releases of the year. And with Ajay Devgn’s humor already winning hearts off-screen, fans can’t wait to see what he delivers on-screen.
