Non-stop Air India flights between Bengaluru, London Gatwick from August 18

The southern Indian city will be the fifth in the country to get connected to the UK’s second-largest airport.

AIR INDIA has revealed plans to initiate non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) beginning August 18, marking the Indian city to be fifth in the country to get connected to the UK’s second-largest airport, the airline said in a release.

This move, enhancing Air India’s footprint in the UK, underscores the robust economic and cultural ties between India and the UK.

Air India will conduct flights five times a week between Bengaluru and LGW, raising its total flights to and from the latter to 17 times a week. The flights will take off from Bengaluru at 13.05 hours local time on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Those from London Gatwick will fly at 20.35 hours local time on the same days in the week.

The airline will use its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the route, featuring 18 flat beds in business class and 238 spacious seats in economy.

This new route caters to the growing demand for travel between these two important business and leisure destinations, and strengthens our commitment to expanding our global network,” Campbell Wilson, chief executive officer & managing director, Air India, said.

Bookings for the flights progressively open on Friday (7) on all channels, including Air India’s official website (www.airindia.com), mobile app, and authorised travel agents and partners.

Air India currently connects four Indian cities to LGW, namely Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Goa, and Kochi.

The airline additionally operates 31 weekly flights to London Heathrow, and six weekly flights to and from Birmingham.
