MEMBERS of the Indian diaspora in the UAE are set to host a grand cultural event as a testament to the unity and camaraderie between India and the UAE to welcome prime minister Narendra Modi in the city of Abu Dhabi on February 13, on the eve of the inauguration of the BAPS Hindu temple.
The event named ‘Ahlan Modi’ (roughly translates in ‘Hello Modi’), which is expected to see an attendance of more than 60,000 people, will be held at the Zayed Sports City Complex, the largest venue in the Middle Eastern nation.
The gathering, which is considered as one of the significant ones featuring Modi outside India, is an homage to ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (a Sanskrit phrase from ancient Indian scriptures signifying the whole world is one family) and seeks to affirm the rich cultural heritage and inclusiveness that epitomizes the Indian diaspora, a press release from ‘Ahlan Modi’ organising committee said.
