In a touching gesture, Argentina football captain Lionel Messi has gifted Ziva, the daughter of former India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni with a signed blue-white jersey of the Argentina national team bearing No.10, the number the likes of him and the legendary Diego Maradona had donned.
Messi, who lifted the World Cup on December 18 after Argentina beat France at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar in penalty shootouts in a sensational final, wrote the message on the jersey: “Para Ziva (for Ziva)”.
Ziva wrote in the caption of the prized picture of her wearing the signed Argentina jersey gifted to her by Messi, “Like father, like daughter! “ #commonlove #merrychristmas”
Dhoni, who has also captained his country to win the World Cup in 2011, is known to be a big admirer of Messi, one of the greatest the game of football has seen. And like Messi who played brilliantly in the final to achieve his ultimate glory, Dhoni had also played a match-winning knock in the final of the 2011 World Cup against Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
The signed jersey and the message was shared on the seven-year-old Ziva’s official Instagram account. The message from Messi read:
The game between Argentina and France ended 3-3 after extra time before Argentina won 4-2 by penalties.
