Apple chief executive officer (CEO) Tim Cook found himself in the middle of another enthusiastic set of admirers and customers on Thursday (20) at the opening of a retail store in New Delhi, the second in India in three days.
The 62-year-old, who received a warm welcome during the inauguration of the retail store in Mumbai on Tuesday (18), experienced something similar in the national capital where hundreds lined up outside the new store in the city’s Saket area to get a glimpse of him.

Some of them even touched Cook’s feet on their way to the store.
The store in New Delhi is Apple’s second in India after the one in Mumbai.
Fans were seen queuing up for the occasion as early as 7.30 am on Thursday and it only grew longer as the day progressed. ‘Dhol’, an Indian instrument, was played inside the shopping mall where the store is located and many people even brought with them old products to get them signed by the Apple chief, India Today reported.
Cook opened the doors at 10 am and met the first bunch of customers inside. He greeted them with a ‘namaste’, and shook hands with them. Amid this, a bunch of the fans touched his feet. The Apple boss was composed throughout and obliged the excited customers by clicking pictures with them and signing their items.
There was one fan who ensured that he visited the Delhi store as well after visiting the one in Mumbai.
Another fan brought parts of an iPhone 4s with him to the store in the capital. It was the first iPhone that Cook launched after taking over as the CEO of Apple in 2011. In Mumbai, too, a man brought a 1980s’ Macintosh SE with him which surprised Cook.
Cook also tweeted about his experience in Delhi, saying, “What an incredible reception, Delhi, thank you! We’re delighted to welcome our customers to our newest store—Apple Saket!” He posted pictures of his interaction with fans and customers in the tweet.
On the eve of the opening of the Delhi store, Cook met prime minister Narendra Modi and some other ministers in New Delhi besides visiting Lodhi Art District and National Crafts Museum in Delhi.
