ACTOR and filmmaker Aamir Khan has announced that his upcoming film “Sitaare Zameen Par” will be released in theatres by mid-2025.
The movie is thematically a sequel to his critically acclaimed 2007 film “Taare Zameen Par”, which explored the challenges faced by children with dyslexia.
Speaking at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Khan shared updates about the film’s progress. “We are coming to the post-production later this month… We would be ready to release the film sometime middle of next year,” the 59-year-old actor told American news outlet Deadline.
Although connected thematically, “Sitaare Zameen Par” features a fresh set of characters and a new storyline.
“It’s a fresh set of characters, completely fresh situation and plot. Thematically, it is a sequel to ‘Taare Zameen Par’. It is saying same things. Actually, it’s a lot more,” Khan explained.
The actor highlighted the core themes of the sequel, stating, “All of us have difficulties and weakness, all of us have qualities about ourselves which make us magical and unique. That is the theme being taken forward in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’.”
“Taare Zameen Par” marked Khan’s directorial debut and depicted the story of an eight-year-old boy struggling with dyslexia.
Khan played the role of an art teacher who helps the child discover his true potential. However, he confirmed that the characters from the original movie will not appear in the sequel.
Khan has been on a break from acting since the release of his 2022 film “Laal Singh Chaddha”. The upcoming release will mark his return to the big screen.
