Aamir Khan, often referred to as “Mr. Perfectionist” of Bollywood, was recently honoured at the prestigious Macau Comedy Festival in China, in recognition of his unparalleled popularity in the country. What made headlines just as much as the award itself was the presence of his girlfriend Gauri Spratt, who accompanied the superstar to the event. The couple’s appearance together marked a rare public outing, and Gauri’s elegant traditional Indian attire added to the spotlight on them.

The festival, which commenced on April 9, 2025, drew international attention as it brought together top comedy talents from across Asia. Aamir Khan, whose films such as 3 Idiots, PK, Dangal, and Secret Superstar have shattered box office records in China, was felicitated alongside popular Chinese actors Shen Teng and Ma Li. These stars were celebrated for their contribution to comedy and for fostering cross-cultural entertainment.

Photos circulating on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) showed Aamir Khan and Gauri Spratt standing gracefully on stage with Shen Teng and Ma Li. In one endearing moment captured by photographers, all four celebrities formed heart signs with their hands to acknowledge the cheering audience. Aamir wore a classic black kurta-pyjama, styled with a black-and-golden shawl, while Gauri turned heads in a vibrant floral sari that blended tradition with grace, perfectly complementing the celebratory mood of the evening.

The Macau Comedy Festival’s closing ceremony is set to feature a special panel discussion titled Laughter is the Best Medicine, where Aamir Khan will join Shen Teng and Ma Li to discuss the societal role of comedy and its cultural evolution. This panel is expected to explore comedy’s universal language and the ability to transcend national and linguistic boundaries—a theme reflected in Aamir’s own cinematic journey in China.

Aamir Khan has developed a massive fanbase in China over the last decade. His films, especially 3 Idiots and Dangal, resonated deeply with Chinese audiences for their emotional storytelling, educational themes, and social relevance. In fact, 3 Idiots became a cult classic and is still referenced in Chinese pop culture today.

While Aamir is no stranger to accolades abroad, this event was particularly notable due to Gauri Spratt’s presence. Gauri, who generally maintains a low public profile, has been increasingly seen at key international events with the actor, hinting at the seriousness of their relationship. Her poised appearance in Macau not only caught the attention of Indian media but was also appreciated by international fashion observers for merging Indian tradition with global sophistication.

With this appearance, Aamir and Gauri have not only solidified their public relationship but also showcased the global appeal of Indian cinema and culture. As Aamir continues to build bridges through storytelling, Gauri seems to be quietly supporting him every step of the way—making them a compelling duo both on and off the red carpet.
