A bizarre incident at OP Jindal Global University in Sonipat has taken the internet by storm after a video surfaced showing a male student attempting to smuggle a girl—allegedly his girlfriend—into the boys’ hostel by hiding her inside a large suitcase.

The video, believed to be shot by another student, quickly went viral on Instagram, X (formerly Twitter), and other platforms, triggering a storm of memes, jokes, and questions about hostel security and student behaviour.

The viral footage captures the moment security guards, seemingly suspicious of the student dragging an oversized suitcase, decide to unzip it. To their shock—and the astonishment of social media users worldwide—a young woman was found curled up tightly inside.

While her identity and whether she is a student at the university remain unconfirmed, the internet has been quick to jump on the incident with reactions ranging from laughter to concern.

Speculation around what triggered the guards’ suspicion ranges from unusual movements to an accidental sound coming from inside the suitcase. Some unverified reports suggest the girl might have let out a small scream while being wheeled, alerting the guards.

Regardless of how it unfolded, the act has since sparked major conversations on campus conduct, boundaries, and the extent to which students are willing to bend the rules.

So far, OP Jindal Global University has not issued an official statement addressing the event, and HT City, which first covered the story, noted that the video’s authenticity hasn’t been independently verified. Still, the viral nature of the clip has turned it into an internet phenomenon, fueling debates and meme trends across student communities.

Social media exploded with reactions, with one user joking, “Love always finds a way—even if it involves luggage!” Another said, “This is peak hostel behaviour. Jindal really lives up to the ‘OP’ in its name.” The sheer creativity—or absurdity—of the stunt has sparked humor, but also concerns over student safety and security protocols in residential campuses.

Some viewers questioned how such a large suitcase wasn’t stopped earlier at entry checkpoints and whether there will be consequences for the students involved. While there is no confirmed news on disciplinary action, the speculation is that the university may soon launch an internal investigation.

The incident also reignites a broader conversation about hostel life and the strict rules surrounding student interactions, especially in gender-segregated spaces. As one student put it online, “This is either a new level of commitment or an episode of a college prank show gone wrong.”

In an age where smartphone recordings can instantly turn a prank into national news, the suitcase saga now serves as a humorous yet cautionary tale for students across campuses. Whether the act was one of misguided love or reckless bravado, the internet isn’t letting it go anytime soon.
