Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma officially ended their marriage on Thursday, March 20, 2025. However, court documents have revealed that the couple had already separated as early as June 2022. The duo, who tied the knot in December 2020, had filed for divorce by mutual consent on February 5, 2025. The Bombay High Court expedited the proceedings by waiving the mandatory six-month cooling-off period, as Chahal’s commitments to the upcoming IPL 2025 season would make him unavailable later.
According to the divorce petition, Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma had been living separately since June 2022. Although they had kept their personal lives private for the most part, rumors of their separation surfaced in 2023 when Dhanashree removed ‘Chahal’ from her Instagram username. This move came shortly after Chahal posted a cryptic Instagram story stating, “New life loading,” which fueled speculation about their relationship status.

The buzz around their alleged breakup gained traction when, in January 2025, both Chahal and Dhanashree unfollowed each other on Instagram. Adding to the speculation, Chahal deleted all their pictures together, while Dhanashree retained some of their old memories on her profile.
As per multiple reports, Chahal agreed to pay a permanent alimony sum of ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree. However, as of now, he has paid ₹2.37 crore, with the remaining amount yet to be settled.
Chahal’s legal counsel, Nitin Gupta, confirmed that the family court accepted the couple’s joint petition for divorce by mutual consent. “The court has granted the decree of divorce, and both parties have mutually agreed to their respective settlements,” said Gupta.
With the divorce finalized, Yuzvendra Chahal is set to shift his focus to cricket. He will be playing for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, which begins on March 22. His participation in the league is crucial, as he remains one of the top-performing spinners in Indian cricket.
On the other hand, Dhanashree Verma, who has gained immense popularity through her choreography and reality show appearances, seems to be making a strong statement post-separation. She recently released a cryptic music video titled Dekha Ji Dekha Maine, which fans speculate might be an indirect response to Chahal’s Instagram post, Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.
