BLACKPINK’s Jennie recently dropped a teaser for her new song Like Jennie, and while fans eagerly await its release, a surprising debate has erupted online. Many netizens believe Jennie’s teaser sounds strikingly similar to Alia Bhatt’s iconic intro song from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023).

Alia, known for her powerful screen presence, delivered a memorable performance as Rani Chatterjee in the Karan Johar-directed film. Apart from her chemistry with Ranveer Singh, her grand introduction scene, set to a unique track composed by Pritam, stood out. The song featured a Bengali rap with “Rani” repeated while S. D. Burman’s classic Mere Sapno Ki Rani played in the background, making it an unforgettable moment.

Now, with Jennie’s Like Jennie teaser featuring a similar repetitive chant of her name, fans couldn’t help but draw comparisons. Some even went so far as to accuse the K-pop star of ‘copying’ the Bollywood track.

One social media user joked, “Someone did chor k ghar pe chori 😂 Pritam has always been known for copying music.” Another pointed out, “Crazy! Copying from a Dharma film says so much about KJo’s taste in music 🥳 Wonder why someone would steal from a country that watches so many movies and every 6/7th human in the world is from there 😋 Easiest to get caught.”

Meanwhile, others are celebrating the return of Alia’s intro track to the limelight. A fan tweeted, “Alia Bhatt’s original “Rani’s Intro Theme” is better,” while another declared, “rani chatterjee is the blueprint 💅🏼.” Another comment under Jennie’s teaser read, “Rani Chatterjee Goes Global ❤️‍🔥Og is og 🩷💯 #AliaBhatt.”

With Like Jennie set to release tomorrow, it remains to be seen whether the full song will reinforce or dispel these allegations. Until then, fans continue to debate whether this is mere coincidence or a case of inspiration crossing international borders.
