MALAYALAM superstar Mohanlal praised director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran for his keen sense of storytelling and focus on performances.
Having collaborated with Sukumaran on “Lucifer”, “Bro Daddy”, and now “L2: Empuraan”, Mohanlal said, “He is very good. This is my third film with him… He is totally into the film.”
The sequel to “Lucifer” will see Mohanlal reprising his role as Stephen Nedumpally, also known as Khureshi-Ab’raam.
He noted that the film demands a different kind of action compared to his previous work. “It’s a trilogy, and we’ve one more chapter to come. We haven’t shot for it. It will take some time,” he said.
Mohanlal spoke about the Malayalam film industry’s growing recognition, particularly after the COVID-19 pandemic. “COVID was a blessing in disguise for the Malayalam film industry. “Drishyam” played a major factor in this, and people started watching other films,” he said.
The teaser of “L2: Empuraan” was launched in Kochi by actor Mammootty, a long-time friend and collaborator of Mohanlal. “Mammootty and I have done over 55 films together, and now we are doing one more (currently untitled) film together,” he said.
Produced by Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas, “L2: Empuraan” will be released on March 27 in multiple languages, including Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The cast includes Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, and Indrajith Sukumaran.
