A WOMAN techie in Bengaluru set herself ablaze for allegedly being blackmailed by her uncle and aunt.
The police have arrested the woman’s uncle and a detailed probe is underway, NDTV reports.
The 24-year-old victim took the extreme step at a hotel, where she went to meet her uncle.
Police officials said the woman was initially reluctant to go to the hotel, but complied after her uncle threatened to share her private photos and videos with her parents.
While going to the hotel, she carried some petrol and set herself ablaze in the hotel room, police said.
She succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
The victim’s mother alleged that she has been staying with her uncle and aunt for the last six years.
The police said a pen drive has been seized from her uncle.
A case has been registered against the man and his wife under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
