BOLLYWOOD luminaries and members of the Kapoor family gathered in Mumbai on Friday to celebrate the legacy of Raj Kapoor, a day ahead of the late actor-filmmaker’s 100th birth anniversary.

The event marked the start of a three-day RK Film Festival organised by PVR INOX Limited and the Film Heritage Foundation.

The festival includes screenings of ten restored classics by Raj Kapoor, such as “Awara”, “Sangam”, and “Mera Naam Joker”, at PVR INOX theaters in 40 cities.

On Friday, the premiere of five iconic films— “Awara”, “Shree 420”, “Sangam”, “Mera Naam Joker”, and “Bobby”— was held at a suburban Mumbai multiplex. The event featured a live music band performing timeless tracks like “Mera Joota Hai Japani” and “Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe.”

Raj Kapoor’s children and grandchildren, including Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor, attended the event alongside other family members like Rima Jain, Babita, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Singh, and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni.

Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were among the first to arrive, walking a red carpet adorned with posters of Raj Kapoor’s films.

Prominent figures from the Hindi film industry, such as Rekha, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Rajkumar Hirani, Vishal Bhardwaj, and Prakash Jha, were also present.

Actors Farhan Akhtar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Tiger Shroff, along with filmmakers Boney Kapoor and Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, were spotted at the gathering.
