RUMOURS about Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s marital status have been doing rounds on social media.
Aishwarya’s latest appearance at Global Women’s Forum in Dubai on Wednesday has added fuel to these rumours.
When she delivered a speech on women’s empowerment, the giant screen displayed her name as “Aishwarya Rai | International Star,” omitting her married surname “Bachchan.” This detail sparked further online discussions, with photos and videos from the event circulating widely.
The speculation that all is not well with the Bollywood power couple began in July when they arrived separately at a high-profile wedding of the Ambanis.
It got escalated when Abhishek liked an Instagram post discussing “grey divorces.” The post delved into reasons behind long-married couples parting ways, asking, “Why love stops being easy.”
The couple, who married in April 2007 and have a daughter, Aaradhya, born in November 2011, have not addressed the rumours publicly.
In an earlier interview with The Hindu, Abhishek expressed gratitude for Aishwarya’s decision to step back from her acting career to focus on raising their daughter. “I’m lucky I get to go out and make movies, but I know Aishwarya is at home with Aaradhya, and I thank her immensely for that,” he said.
Abhishek also likened Aishwarya’s role to that of his own mother, Jaya Bachchan, who gave up acting to focus on her family.
“My mother stopped acting when I was born because she wanted to spend time with the children,” he noted, adding that such sacrifices are deeply appreciated in their family dynamic.
