TITANIC star Billy Zane is set to portray the Oscar-winning legend Marlon Brando in the upcoming biopic “Waltzing with Brando”.
The movie is set for a world premiere at the Torino Film Festival in Italy this month and it follows Brando’s life during the 1970s.
“Waltzing with Brando” offers glimpses of the late actor during the filming of masterpieces such as “Last Tango in Paris” and “The Godfather”.
Some of the stills of the movie that have gone viral on social media has netizens marvel at how closely Zane resembles Brando’s Don Vito Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather”.
The film is about Brando’s ambitious project of setting up a home in an island in Tetiaroa, Tahiti.
Directed by Bill Fishman, the film is an adaptation of Bernard Judge’s book of the same name. Judge, an award-winning architect, was hired by Brando to construct his house.
The movie has been produced by Zane, along with Fishman and Dean Bloxom.
Most of the film is shot in Tetiaroa and Zane and the three producers have pledged to send 5 per cent of the movie’s proceeds to the island’s residents.
“Waltzing with Brando” also stars Tia Carrere, Richard Dreyfuss, Jon Heder, Alaina Huffman and Rob Corddry.
The Torino Film Festival will take place in Turin, Italy from November 22-30, and “Waltzing with Brando” will be the closing night film.
