VETERAN actor Zeenat Aman recently revealed she got “as high as a kite” during the shooting of the iconic song “Dum Maro Dum” in the 1971 film “Hare Rama Hare Krishna”.

In an Instagram post, the 72-year-old shared how, to bring authenticity to her role, she smoked with real-life hippies on set in Kathmandu.

Aman, who was still in her teens at the time, explained that Dev Anand, the film’s director and co-star, wanted her character, Janice, to look genuinely intoxicated.

“Now Dev Saab wanted authenticity in this sequence. My character, the drug-addled Janice, had to really look stoned,” she said.

To achieve this, Aman said she “gamely” smoked from a chillum for several takes.

By the end of the day, she was in no condition to return to the hotel and had to be driven around until she sobered up.

Reflecting on the incident, she also shared how her mother later reprimanded the crew for letting her partake in drugs.

Aman concluded the post by announcing her upcoming tour in Mumbai, Delhi, and Jaipur, where she will share similar anecdotes and perform to songs from her films with a live band.
