A 26-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for allegedly setting bikes on fire at an Ola Electric showroom in Kalaburagi, Karnataka on Tuesday.
Mohammad Nadeem, was ‘frustrated’ because the two-wheeler he bought from this outlet had developed technical snags and they were not resolved, police said on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Nadeem entered the showroom with a can of petrol and allegedly torched about six bikes. The blaze soon blaze spread to the entire outlet.
According to a senior police officer, he had purchased an electric scooter from the showroom in August, but soon began facing various technical snags.
Despite numerous visits to the showroom, the staff neglected his requests.
“This led to arguments between both the parties,” a police officer said. “He was frustrated over the conduct of the staff.”
No one was injured in the incident, police said, adding, further investigation is underway.
Ola Electric has condemned the arson attack on its outlet in Kalaburagi.
“We at Ola highly condemn such unlawful acts, and will take all necessary legal measures to ensure that appropriate and strict actions are taken in this matter and such incidents are not repeated,” the Bengaluru-based company stated.
The perpetrator of this violent act has been identified and an FIR has been lodged against him, it added. (PTI)
