Smart devices maker Apple has sought exemption for some of the old iPhone models that are being sold in India from the mandatory shift to uniform charging port rule, according to industry sources. According to sources, Apple has shifted to USB C-type charging port from iPhone 15 onwards but the company representative has shared that it will be difficult to change the design of some of the old iPhone models that are being made in India. “Apple has no issue in shifting to a uniform charging port. It has already introduced Type C charging port in iPhone 15. However, Apple representatives have asked for exemption for some of the old iPhones that are being made in India as it will be difficult for the company to change the design of legacy devices,” the source said on condition of anonymity.
Indian deputy information technology (IT) minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Tuesday met social media platforms to review progress made by them in tackling misinformation and deepfakes and asserted that advisories will be issued in the next two days to ensure 100 per cent compliance by platforms. New, amended IT Rules to further ensure compliance of platforms, and the safety and trust of online users are actively under consideration, Chandrasekhar said in a post on X. “Held the 2nd #DigitalIndiaDialogues on Misinformation and #Deepfakes with intermediaries today, to review the progress made since the Nov 24 meeting. Many platforms are responding to the decisions taken last month and advisories on ensuring 100 per cent compliance will be issued in the next 2 days,” he said.

The 61st Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting under PM GatiShakti convened in New Delhi, chaired by Sumita Dawra, special secretary (logistics), department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT). According to a press release by the ministry of commerce and industry, this significant gathering celebrated the second anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (NMP) and conducted a thorough review of the mapping of economic zones and 100 critical infrastructure projects. The online gaming industry, on Tuesday, signed a voluntary code of ethics to build a safe, trusted, and accountable sector with a focus on user protection, industry body IAMAI said. The Voluntary Code of Ethics, curated by the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), was signed by the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports, the E-Gaming Federation and the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) at the Indian Gaming Convention 2023. “…happy to have curated the Voluntary Code of Ethics for Online Gaming Intermediaries, which has been signed by four industry bodies representing the digital gaming sector in India. This is a progressive step towards building a transparent and accountable gaming ecosystem with a focus on consumer protection,” IAMAI president Subho Ray said.
