THE International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday (15) said that tickets for the 50-over world cup, set to be played in India between October 5 and November 19, will go on sale from August 25.
While England and New Zealand will play the opening game in a replay of the 2019 final in Ahmedabad in the western state of Gujarat, the hosts will play their first match against five-time champions Australia in Chennai on October 8.

The high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan will take place in Ahmedabad on October 14, a new date after it was originally planned for October 15.
However, India’s Times of India reported that the fans will not have instant access to tickets for all matches of the tournament. It said that the sale of the tickets will be conducted in a systematic manner across phases.
The fixtures for the world cup, the 13th edition since its inception in 1975, were originally unveiled in June after weeks of delays caused by complications of relations between India and Pakistan.
Last week, the schedule saw some changes after the Indian cricket board said teams had sought changes. Besides the India-Pakistan clash, eight other matches were also rescheduled.
The ICC has also begun online registration for fans to buy tickets.
As per the Times report, sales of tickets for the semi-final and final matches of the marquee tournament are scheduled to kick off on September 15.
