The carrier’s new logo symbol – ‘The Vista’ – is inspired by the peak of a window frame as its new look reinagines the iconic Indian window shape, which Air India has used historically, into the gold window frame symbolising a ‘Window of Possibilities’.
In a press release, the airline said, “Air India’s new logo symbol – ‘The Vista’ – is inspired by the peak of the gold window frame, signifying limitless possibilities, progressiveness, and the airline’s bold, confident outlook for

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson said the transformative new brand reflected a desire to make Air India a world-class airline serving guests from across the world and “represents a new India proudly on the global stage”.
“The new Air India is bold, confident, and vibrant, but also warm and deeply rooted to its rich history and traditions that make Indian hospitality a global benchmark for standards in service,” he said.
It was told that travellers will witness the new logo during their journey starting December this year when the carrier’s first Airbus A350 comes into the fleet in the new livery. An entirely new long-haul fleet will be flying by the end of 2026.
Wilson also said that while colours, patterns, shape and how they come together and what they represent are key, Air India’s actions speak much louder.
“We are in the midst of a total transformation to reimagine the role of India’s flagship airline,” the CEO added.
Air India, which had been facing persistent losses till it was handed over to the Tata Group, is set to acquire 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing at $70 billion (based on published list prices) with the deliveries of the planes starting in November this year.
The airline’s transformation has already started with it leasing and buying 20 widebody planes in 2023. A programme worth $400 million programme to completely refurbish the interiors of its legacy fleet of 43 widebody aircraft commences around the middle of next year and it will lead to the installation of brand-new seats in every cabin, new inflight entertainment systems and inflight Wi-Fi internet connectivity, the press release added.
It also said that a third of the airline’s widebody fleet will be upgraded by March next year and the entire long-haul fleet will be reborn over the next two-and-a-half years.
Air India has also launched a new website and mobile app, offering a significantly improved web experience with new digital tools and features. It is also investing in building completely new lounges at Delhi and New York JFK airports, having recently announced a global lounge network expansion, achieving complete lounge access coverage for premium customers at all destinations in its international route network.
Additionally, Air India has also welcomed more than 5,000 new staff, including 3,200 cabin crew and around 1,000 cockpit crew.
It is also making heavy investments in building one of the world’s largest aviation training academies in India that will upskill a massive number of aviation professionals.
