Former Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan should have been hanged publicly, the leader of the opposition in the country’s National Assembly, Raja Riaz Ahmad Khan, said on Monday (15) as he slammed courts for granting bail to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supremo.

“Imran Khan should have been hanged publicly, but the courts are welcoming him as if he were his son-in-law,” he said.

He also called the former prime minister a Jewish agent.

Ahmad Khan is a dissident leader of the PTI who joined Imran Khan’s party in 2016 after quitting Pakistan People’s Party the year before.

“If the judges are so happy with this Jewish agent, they should join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. They have some vacant seats in the party. Going forth, they should fight elections on PTI’s ticket. In their place, those judges should be brought in who can give justice to the poor,” the leader from Faisalabad said.

The leader of the opposition said the entire House and the nation were ashamed when speaking about the incidents of violence that spread across Pakistan following Imran Khan’s dramatic arrest outside a court in Islamabad on May 9. He was later given relief by the judiciary.

Pakistan’s ruling coalition on Monday staged a demonstration against the country’s top court to object to some of the recent rulings given by the judiciary on Imran Khan. According to it, they gave relief to the cricketer-turned-politician in a number of cases.

Pakistani prime minister Shehbaz Sharif accused the top court of double standard and said it treated his predecessor as a “ladla” (darling).

Demonstrators from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) entered the Red Zone while the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) set up a stage in front of the top court, news agency PTI reported, citing Dawn.
