Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan posted a heartfelt message for former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is currently leading Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, after meeting him on Wednesday (10).
The former left-arm cricketer, who had played under Dhoni’s captaincy, said in a tweet, “Jaha se chorte hai wahi se fir se shuru hoti hai Hamari dosti (he takes it up from where he last left it). Never been a time where we met and didn’t remember our good old days. Some funny memories comes back to the life every time we meet.”

The post came after the Super Kings beat Delhi Capitals by 27 runs in a crucial match to take a big leap towards qualifying for the playoffs in the tournament. Dhoni scored 20 runs off nine balls with the help of two sixes and that gave his team an advantage on a tacky track at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, the Super Kings’ home turf.
However, Pathan was also saddened to see the 41-year-old Dhoni’s limp on the ground and he said the sight broke his heart. He said he has seen the wicket-keeper-batter run like a cheetah in the past.
“Seeing Dhoni limping thru running between the wickets breaks my heart. Have seen him run like a cheetah,” the 38-year-old said in another tweet.

Dhoni’s Chennai, who have won the crown four times, are now placed second in the points table with 15 from 12 outings, trailing defending champions Gujarat Titans who are at 16 points from a game less.
