Indonesia Masters: Sindhu makes semis, to meet top seed

ACE India badminton player PV Sindhu on Friday (19) registered a dominant win over Tukey’s Neslihan Yigit to enter the semi-finals of the women’s singles section of the Indonesia Master Super 750 badminton tournament in Bali.

The reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, which is seeded third in the competition, won 21-13, 21-10 against the unseeded opposition in 35 minutes to extend her head-to-head lead over the Turkish shuttler to 4-0.

Sindhu had beaten Yigit last month in the Denmark Open.

The Indian will now face top seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan who beat fifth seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 8-21, 21-12, 21-10.

In the men’s section, India’s Srikanth Kidambi also made the semi-finals and was set to take on third seed Anders Antonsen of Denmark.
